Parampal Singh Guron and Ganemat Sekhon emerged victorious in the men’s and women’s events respectively at Skeet Trial 1 of the National Selection Trials 1 & 2 (Group A), held at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range here on Thursday. Zorawar Singh Bedi and Sanyogita Shekhawat clinched top honours in the junior men’s and junior women’s categories respectively.
Parampal held his nerve in a tense shoot-off to edge past Olympian Anantjeet Singh Naruka in the men’s final. Both shooters finished level on 34 hits out of 36 in the new ISSF skeet finals format. Anantjeet, who had been leading until the final series after missing one target, faltered in the shoot-off by missing one, while Parampal hit all four targets to seal the top spot. Olympian Mairaj Ahmad Khan finished third with a score of 29.

Under the new ISSF format, eight shooters qualified for the men’s final. Man Singh topped the qualification round with a score of 123, followed by Anantjeet on 120. Parampal, Mairaj Ahmad Khan and national champion Gurjoat Singh were tied on 118, while Mohammed Sheeraz Sheikh and Munek Battula completed the top eight with scores of 116 each.
In the women’s final, Ganemat Sekhon produced a composed performance to finish on top with 33 hits out of 36, despite qualifying eighth. She edged Parinaaz Dhaliwal, who scored 32, while Darshna Rathore claimed third place with 24.
Earlier, Parinaaz had topped the women’s qualification with 117, ahead of Vanshika Tiwari (115). Darshna Rathore and Raiza Dhillon followed with 114 each, while Maheshwari Chauhan and Yashasvi Rathore posted scores of 113. Mansi Raghuvanshi completed the top eight with 112.
In the junior men’s final, Zorawar Singh Bedi delivered a dominant performance, shooting 35 out of 36 after topping qualification with 117. Yuvek Battula finished second with 34 hits, having qualified with 109, while Gurfateh Singh Sandhu took third with 28 after qualifying with 110.
Ishaan Singh Libra and Yashvardhan Singh Rajawat scored 114 each in qualification, followed by Yuvaan on 113. Navneet Singh Bhadouriya (111) and Harviraj Singh (108) rounded out the top eight.
In the junior women’s final, Sanyogita Shekhawat climbed from seventh in qualification to take the title with a score of 28. Kajal Singh Baghel, who qualified eighth with 100, finished second on 27, while top qualifier Risham Kaur Guron (110) settled for third with 23.
Agrima Kanwar and Venkat Lakshmi Lakku finished second and third in qualification with scores of 109 each, followed by Kamna Udawat and Parmeet Kaur on 104. Oshmi Shrivas completed the top eight with a score of 102.
